Bury's third team suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of Bolton thirds, who are one of the favourites for top spot in E Division of the Manchester League. Only Steven Press and Sydney Forrester, with hard-fought draws, made any impression on the Bury slde of the scorecard.

In the Bury club championship the semi-final pairings are Mick Norris v Bernard Sharples, and Jim Litherland v Sheraz Khalil. Quarter-final games in the subsidiary Plate competition are Roy Wild v John Grindrod; Brian Forrest v Steven Press; Jeremy Peach v Geoff Kerr; and Sidney Forrester v Claire Churchill. Games are to be completed by the end of March.
