Bury's third team found themselves in for a difficult time against Stockport 4th. A closely fought match, with games tightly balanced, suddenly at the end of the evening turned against Bury. Rafael Adler, standing in on top board, failed to hold his opponent, despite early chances. Then Sid Forrester and Geoff Kerr also went down, followed quickly by a loss for Roger Nuttall. This left Brian Forrest as to avoid the whitewash, and in a tremendous see-saw of a game he finally came through when his opponent ran out of time in a winning position! Nevertheless Stockport went home with the points.
